Nuggets of Wisdom -- 1

Presenting the first installment of Nuggets of Wisdom Series, in which yours truly offers (rarely) original, (sometimes) clichéd, and (almost always) useless insights into the nature of things.

If you take something so seriously that you can't laugh at it yourself or tolerate irreverent jokes about it, know that something's really, really fucked up.

"Why then would you bother about even the things being fucked up", is my humble confrontation to the mighty wisdom of naked mendicancy.

what would you say is the definition of a thing being "fucked up" ?

if it is what i think it is then i can suggest like a hundred things where this wouldn't be applicable - even for you

Replace something by everything, seriously by casually, laugh by cry, and jokes by remorse- and "Why then would you bother about even the things being fucked up"

@Man and Satyavrat: What I meant by the entire thing was that after such a thing comes to pass, perhaps one might want to look back and reassess, see a little humour in his (absurd) seriousness, sit back and smile at his own folly.

Moreover, the Nuggets of Wisdom series is supposed to be a collection of tongue in cheek one liners fit to be taken with a pinch of salt. They are not supposed to be watertight aphorisms suitable for academic dissection.

@Satyavrat: "If you take everything so casually that you can't cry at it yourself or tolerate remorse over it, know that something's really, really fucked up"

So very you!

"If you take everything so casually that you can't cry at it yourself or tolerate remorse over it, why then would you bother about even the things being fucked up." was what I meant.

My point was precisely why would you care to ponder upon your past and get a sense of justification by how pointless and absurd they seem at the present, the inconsistency in your argument is that you assume that there will is a need of console for a man who never gives a damn.

Among other things you assume are the state of mind one bears. Who told you that everybody wants peace and justification? And the profoundity the said statement bestow upon a man who takes everything for granted is uncalled for. I know whats implicit in your statement is the idea of getting over things, but there must exist things in order to get over through. Never repenting may mean that either one never does a repentable thing, or that one never repents- which is that one never gets attached to things, or feel nostalgic about things and so on. You see thats exactly the crude form of life we have evolved from. You have to live with it, and if you do not wish to and still live, just smoke crack regularly.

Arts might be beautiful, Mathematics might be elegant, Sciences might be profound, but whats not stark is not philosophy. Hence the moment you find it artful in the least, what I am talking is not philosophy. And then I would lament of being so dumb, and might at the same time fantasize about (the possibility of) being philosophical as per my own definition- you see that kind of bipolarity exists, learn to appreciate it.

P.S.- still cheers to the nuggets.
